Take the wire and insert it into the hole located in the center of the doorknob. Find something stiff that will slide into the hole. Then swipe quickly downward. This is designed as an emergency way to open interior doors with locks such as a bathroom or bedroom door.

Determine the type of lock locks with a round hole in the knob on the opposite side of the locking mechanism usually. A ballpoint pen filler works. Push it straight into the hole. The non locking side of the door should have a small hole likely on the face of the knob.
